I have enjoyed photography as a hobby since I was quite young using my Grandmother’s Kodak Instamatic to take photos of family and airplanes.
When I married and starting having children with my wife Pam we puchased a Chinon 35mm reflex camera. Since there were no automatic settings on this particular camera I had to learn to use existing lighting, light metering and flash to take good quality photos. I used this camera extensively while the children grew to be young adults.
In spring of 2008 as I prepared to embark on a cross country trip via RV, I purchase a Nikon D60 Digital SLR. This has been a godsend for me since I can take and goof as many photos as I want and get instant feedback about what was good and what is not so good.
Landscapes, nature and candids seemed to always be first picks when I look through a recent shoot. I have been able to get some good action photos during athletic events as well but that is definitely a challenge and a learning experience.

What I consider to be ‘My Best Work’.
Note to my fellow Photographers: My photos are presented ‘as is’. I believe in editing my photos in the view finder before taking the shot. I don’t Photoshop, crop or otherwise edit my photos in any way after they are taken. Any imperfection or flaw is left in the photo just as it was when it was taken. In the rare case that one of my photographs is edited in anyway, it’s either noted in the comments or painfully obvious to the naked eye. If Photoshop was used, it is done so by a professional.
“I don’t take photographs. They are a gift.” M Owens, Photographer
“There’s a Zen to it really. You explore, it heals your soul, hopefully you take a pretty picture, if not you’re still better off.” Andy Best, Photographer/Filmmaker
Themes: I love to shoot old buildings, bridges, flowers, mountain landscapes, trains, planes and automobiles. Other themes you might notice such as US Flags. pinecones, old fences and Windows from the inside looking out.
