To place the flag at half-staff, hoist it to the peak for an instant and lower it to a position half way between the top and bottom of the staff. The flag should be raised briskly and lowered slowly and ceremoniously. On Memorial Day, the flag is displayed at half-staff until noon and at full staff from noon to sunset.

How is it that the majority of Revolutionary War and Civil War battles were fought in National Historic Sites?

So maybe it is my upbringing but I just don’t get it.  There is so much anger and hatred in this world that somebody someplace is thinking that they need to destroy innocent lives to make their point.  So they come up with the idea to plant bombs at a marathon, turn assault weapons on first graders, fly planes into a massive office building and military compound, or drive a truck full of explosives into the basement of a federal courthouse.

Why?  What’s your point?!?  If it’s a social statement and you kill yourself in the process you won’t be around to either further advance your position, nor will you be around to enjoy the fruits of your labors.
